Ready to Start

Otay. It's time to start the blog back up!!!

I first started this blog circa the summer of 2007, when I went on trip to India with my friends Mike & Meredith. I thought it would be a cool idea. The following is an excerpt from my very first post; where I try to explain why we had a blog:
  • Have an online & interactive travel diary of our trip to the subcontinent (India)
  • Allow our friends and family, many of whom know each other, to read about our adventures. Even if you don’t know the others (Mike, Meredith or Gautam), we like to think you might enjoy each of our different perspectives.

  • Be part of the information REVOLUTION. Our stories, reviews, opinions and thoughts will live on — online — for many years to come. Hopefully someone somewhere sometime in this shrinking world of ours will find them useful as they head out on their own travels.
I really had no plans to keep the blog going. On subsequent trips a friend of mine (Drew R.) convinced me to keep it going to have the memories of each trip in one location. He had a point so I thought I could continue to keep it up to date. It just didn't work out, there were technical problems, and illness that prevented me from updating the blog in a timely manner. What I did use it for was summarizing the trip, and linking to photo albums (everyone knows I live to take pictures)

Then. One Day. I met a beautiful, awesome, smart girl. Isn't that the way every good story starts? I'll spare you the details ... fast forward 2 years ... and we are on the eve of our trip to India. We (you can see us to the right ----->) decided it would fun to fire up the old blog.

We now live in a post Facebook world. We have Twitter, Foursquare, LoL, OMG, WTF. Every Tom, Dick and Harrold has a blog. We live in the age of information overload.

It is our hope that our friends and family will be able to read about our adventures, as they happen, as if they were coming on this incredible journey with us. We hope to educate and inform you. And anyone else who is thinking of visiting similar destinations, partaking in some of these adventures in the future, you will have the benefit of our experience.

We have an amazing trip planned. Starting with a visit to see Katie's (great) uncle. He lives in the Southern state of Kerala. He's lived in the port city of Cochin for over a decade, where he serves the community as a Catholic Priest. About 20% of the population of Kerala is Christian -shocking I know. For reference, it's about 57.7% Hindu, and 22.4% Islam. Roughly.

We will be staying with him at the monastery! I'm pretty pumped up about that! After kicking it with Father Joe for a few days, we'll head over to the beach for some rest, relaxation & rays for a few more days

We return to Delhi, to be greeted by my brother ... And a few days after that I will have a new sister!

Ok. Thanks for listening to me ramble. :)

I need to get to the airport. Stat. Talk to you from the subcontinent!

Now I'm ready to start
